About your instructor

Thirty years teaching
East London to drive.

I've been teaching people to drive in this area since 1996. For most of those thirty years I worked for the major national driving schools — including BSM and the AA — using their cars and routes while teaching the pupils they sent me. In 2026 I decided to teach under my own name.

The standard of instruction is exactly the same: professional, patient, and focused on making you a genuinely safe driver rather than someone who has memorised one test route. What has changed is that you book directly with me, the instructor who will be sitting beside you. No call centres, no middlemen.

It's also why the price is what it is. Book through a national school and a share of every hour you pay for goes on franchise fees, a call centre and a national advertising budget. Booking direct, none of that sits in the price — which is how the rate stays at £34 an hour.

My aim is straightforward — quality lessons that get you to test standard as quickly as you can safely get there. The DVSA puts the average learner at 45 hours of tuition; I plan for 40, and the intensive course exists for anyone who wants to do it in one focused block rather than an hour at a time.

£150

Test day at Wanstead or Chingford. Use of my car for your practical, a warm-up drive beforehand, and me with you at the test centre. Included in the Granted Pass Programme. The route to your licence

Four stops between here
and driving alone.

1

Provisional licence

Apply on GOV.UK from your 15th birthday and nine months. It takes about a week to arrive, and you'll need it in your hand before your first lesson.

2

Theory test

Multiple choice plus hazard perception. Start revising early — most learners who fail the practical first time were rushed into it. I'll tell you when you're ready to book.

3

Lessons and private practice

The DVSA figure is around 45 hours with an instructor plus 22 hours of private practice. We work through junctions, the Blackwall approaches, roundabouts and dual carriageways in a sensible order.

P

Practical test

A mock test on real routes first, then the real thing at Wanstead or Chingford. Nerves are normal — you'll have driven those roundabouts a dozen times already.

Where I teach

Automatic driving lessons
across East London.

I cover the whole of Tower Hamlets and the whole of Newham, and lessons are taught on the roads around your local test centre, so nothing on test day is a surprise.

Recent passes

Certificates, not promises.

Every one of these learned in the same automatic, on the same East London roads, and tested at Wanstead or Chingford.

A minute of your time helps someone in East London find an instructor they can trust — the same way you did. And if you're still deciding, read what my learners have said before you book.

Before you book

The questions I get
asked every week.

How many lessons will I need?

The DVSA figure is around 45 hours of professional tuition alongside 22 hours of private practice, and learners who do both are about 50% more likely to pass. It varies a lot, though. After your first couple of hours I'll give you an honest estimate rather than a sales pitch.

What is the Granted Pass Programme?

40 hours of lessons for £1,500, paid in full in advance, planned out from your first lesson through to your test. The DVSA puts the average learner at around 45 hours of tuition; this programme is built to get you there in 40. It also covers my car for your practical at Wanstead or Chingford and an hour of warm-up driving beforehand, so there's no separate £150 test day fee. Your DVSA test fee is not included — you book and pay that yourself. If you don't pass, your next ten hours are half price. The full terms and conditions set out exactly what qualifies.

Do you teach manual?

I teach in an automatic. Most learners choose automatic now, and it usually takes fewer hours to get test-ready. If you've set your heart on manual, tell me and I'll put you in touch with an instructor I trust — no hard feelings.

Will an automatic licence limit me?

Yes, and it's worth knowing before you start. Passing in an automatic gives you an automatic-only licence, so you couldn't drive a manual afterwards without taking a manual test. If you're likely to borrow a family car, check what it is first.

Do you pick up from home?

Yes — home, school, college or work, anywhere in Tower Hamlets or Newham, at no extra cost.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

No charge with 48 hours' notice. Less than that and the lesson is charged in full, since the slot can't usually be filled at short notice.

Can I use your car for the test?

Yes. Test day at Wanstead or Chingford is £150, covering use of my car, a warm-up drive beforehand, and me with you at the test centre. It's included free on the Granted Pass Programme. Any other test centre is by arrangement, so call me and we'll agree a price. Your DVSA test fee is separate — you pay that directly to the DVSA when you book the test.
